Roses and Babies Breath is the result of a deliberate photographic and painterly process, capturing a moment of recognized perfection within the artist's studio. Chosen from over eighty reference images, this composition immediately struck me with its balance and vibrant colour palette. A technical note: the dramatic black background was achieved by meticulously working the paint into the surface of what began as pristine white, 300 lb. watercolor paper.
